The Wonder of Learning Exhibit
The traveling exhibit from Reggio Emilia, Italy: The Wonder of Learning: The hundred languages of children,
is now open in River Market, New Westminster, BC. The exhibit is open
Tue-Sun (free admission). It will be in B.C. from July to December,
2012 and a number of professional development opportunties for early
childhood educators will be available. more
ECE Graduate Student Orientation and Welcome
Please join us on September 17, 2012, 4:00pm-6:30pm for an
orientation/get-together event for new and returning ECE graduate
students and Faculty members with interest in ECE research (Scarge Room
#310).
New ECED course: Sociocultural Perspectives in ECE
ECED 480B will investigate the breadth of research on early
learning within a sociocultural theoretical framework. Students will
reflect on the importance of different types of relationships and
contexts (i.e., home, school, community) for young children and examine
the ways a range of mediators impact children's worlds. This online
course will be taught by Dr. Jodi Streelasky between Sep-Dec 2012.
The Rights of Children in Research and Practice
Visiting ECE scholar from New Zealand, Dr. Judith Duncan, will
lead a one day seminar on the important topic of the rights of young
children, on November 3, 2012. The seminar will be open to students,
Faculty members, early childhood instructors, early childhood educators
and teachers. Registration will open soon.
